Would this be illegal in the UK?

To install a hidden CCTV camera to view who comes to my front door? It wouldn’t look into the street just really the area in front of my door.

This would mean all visitors, the postman and one neighbour who walks past my door would be filmed without permission.

I think it would be illegal.
Although I do know that if someone committed something illegal in front of it you could not use it as evidence, as you did not show that you were filming them.
