The Keykeeper and I are having too much fun with these, although fixing the wiring was not so much fun. Oh well. We’re really more into just seeing what all we can do with these things than we are actually spying on anyone–which is not our intention anyway.

Wow. Is that, like, supposed to impress me or something? It doesn’t.

It’s not a matter of thinking, it’s a matter of fact. That is the A/C compressor idler making that noise. With an attitude like that, it’s a wonder you’re capable of learning anything. Well, I see where this is going.

Grow the hell up and don’t come back until you have.

If you’d have seen this truck in person and looked at the situation as we have, you’d realize that you are wrong. The PS pump is silent. It is the idler/clutch assembly on the A/C compressor. The bearing is shot and it makes this noise. Turning it by hand produces a lower pitched version of the same.

And as I found out at work tonight, stupid people exist in droves. Honestly, I think I’m doing the apartment complex a favor, cause I highly doubt that these would have been changed otherwise. It’s scary though, because some of these outlets arc like mad when you first plug something into them, and I’m not sure why. Come to think of it, I might try and get a video of one doing it.

And you’re right–it’s a wonder the place never burned down!

Not that they would have known it if it did…there was not a single smoke detector in the place. (There are four or five now.)

Depending upon where you live, the wires you have to work with can vary. But it’s generally safe to do your own household wiring as long as you don’t put undue strain on the wire, turn the power off first and don’t connect hot wires directly to neutral or grounded wires.

In some places, you have to hire someone to work on your wiring as it is illegal to do it yourself. I think that’s silly, although stupid people are probably the reason why!

I just replaced some of the outlets in my apartment, and now I see what you mean about the wires being soldered together, and being all screwed up. I hate messing with electricity. Just makes me nervous. Whoever did that is lucky that house didn’t burn to the ground.

There is still some cleaning up to do. We’re on pretty good terms with most of our neighbors, so I’m not sure who complained.

I do wish that they’d have simply come to us about it, as we do try to be reasonable and agreeable.

You guys did bust your asses cleaning that yard up. Stupid neighbors.

But all in all, I put the cameras up because they were cheap entertainment and I thought the results of doing so might be interesting.

There’s also the issue of power on the farm. Although electricity is available, it’s not in the greatest of shape, and none of the buildings that have it can really be secured to keep people out. It doesn’t really matter, though, since there isn’t much of interest in them at this point.

  18. Commentsuxwbill   |  Thursday, 29 July 2010 at 11:24 am

Not as much as you’d think, especially around my house. In nearly twenty years of living here, only two things have been stolen from us.

The farm isn’t as bad as it was. There used to a house there and people would break into it and do bad things. That house is now gone, and a lot of the problem went away with it. But it’s in the middle of nowhere and that doesn’t help either.

If I put cameras on the farm (and I have been tempted) someone might steal all of them and I’d never know who did it.

I’m not crazy about doing that, there are too many strange people on YouTube. I’m sure that most of you could probably appreciate that point of view, what with some of the things that go on here.
